Hunted down food at Wan Chai for the past 2 nights. Thought I'd share heh.

Honolulu Cafe.

Directions: Wan Chai MTR, Exit A4, turn left, walk for about 1-2 minutes.

"Food lovers keep coming back to this 50-year-old coffee shop for its wonderful egg tarts. The secret to the tasty pastry is letting it sit overnight in the refrigerator before baking. The temperature is adjusted three times during the baking process. When the tarts are ready, they are cooled for two minutes before serving. When you get to bite into one, watch out for a shower of pastry flakes - at this moment, it's fine to forget your manners."

Yep this place is famous for its egg tarts (HK$7 / S$1.30). There are 2 types of egg tarts in HK -- the flaky pastry tart and the short tart. Honolulu's egg tarts' famous for the former. It's said that there are 192 layers in the flaky crust, and trust me..it's gooood. Haven't taken a picture of it just so I'll go back for more. But it is pricey, considering how common it is to find tarts going for HK$2.50 (S$0.45)

North Point Hong Kong Style Waffle.
492 King's Road, North Point

(But I went to the branch in Wan Chai. Exit A4 of the MTR, and turn left. you can smell it from the exit already)

"The ball-shaped waffles are made by pouring batter into an iron mold, letting it cook for 6-7 minutes, then cooled slightly before serving. The deliciously eggy aroma is thanks to a batter mixture which contains more egg than flour. A hole is pricked in the paper bag before it goes in, so as to release the steam and prevent the waffle from becoming soggy"

These...鸡蛋仔 (eggettes?) are everywhere. But you know you've found THE stall when it's got photos of celebs eating it + news articles pasted all over. It's really crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The lacklustre versions usually have too much air inside, but this is chewy inside. But the prices keep escalating. One of the articles pasted at the stall said each was HK$10 (S$1.70). A food blog earlier this year mentioned that it's HK$11. Past two days? HK$12 (S$2.10). But hey, it's worth it.

Was too full on both occasions to try Wow! Burger. But I don't think it'll be long before I make my way back to Wan Chai.
